Honeycomb Moray
Gymnothorax favagineus
That mouth it keeps opening and closing looks fierce, but it is really just the eel pumping water over its gills to breathe.

How to spot
Look for the long, snake-like eel body with no side fins, and the busy black-on-white honeycomb pattern all over. A big head with an always-open mouth full of sharp teeth is a giveaway.
True colors
A pale creamy-white to yellowish body packed with dense black spots like a honeycomb. Eels in clear reef water tend to show more white; those in murky water can look darker.
