Longhorn Cowfish
Lactoria cornuta
Those two horns above its eyes are why it is called a "cowfish"! Scientists think the horns make it harder for a predator to swallow. If a horn breaks off, it can slowly grow back.

How to spot
A boxy fish sealed in a hard shell of fused plates, so the body stays stiff. Two long horns point forward above the eyes and two spines point back under the tail; only fins, mouth and tail move.
True colors
Usually yellow to olive-green or tan, often dotted with small pale blue or white spots. Colors vary — some look orange or brown — to help it blend in. The horns match the body tone.
