How to spot
Two large white-ringed black "eyespots" sit just behind the pectoral fins, giving the shark its military-uniform name. Slim body, two matching dorsal fins set far back, short nose barbels.
True colors
A sandy cream to light brown body with widely spaced dark brown spots. Behind each front fin sits one big white-ringed black spot, like a shoulder badge. Babies wear dark bands instead.
