Chaetodon ephippium
The big dark patch on its back looks like a saddle on a horse, which is how it got its name "ephippium," a word meaning saddle.

How to spot
A large black, white-rimmed "saddle" blotch high on the back below the dorsal fin. Adults also grow a thin thread-like filament trailing off the dorsal fin; young fish do not.
True colors
Silvery to pale grey with faint blue-grey stripes low on the sides. A white-edged black patch sits on the upper back like a saddle. Snout, chest, and parts of the fins and tail are bright yellow.
