How to spot
Look for the bold blue-and-yellow racing stripes running along the top of the body. Like all surgeonfish, it hides a sharp blade near the base of its tail. Its body is oval and flat from side to side.
True colors
The upper body wears bright blue and yellow stripes, each stripe outlined in black. The belly is pale bluish-white to soft lavender. The fins are finely striped in pale blue and yellow.
